Le temps des Fêtes est à nos portes. Pour cette occasion, Ian Kelly nous fait le plaisir de la chanson Christmas Day, une composition originale qui conscientise et qui réjouie.

Le temps des Fêtes, c’est une période encore magique et, à mon avis, l’amour prévaut encore sur la bêtise humaine. Nous sommes bons et si nous étions un peu plus raisonnables et un peu mieux éduqués sur les conséquences de nos actions, le monde s’en porterait beaucoup mieux. 

Concrètement, Équiterre travaille fort pour changer certaines choses dans des dossiers qui m’interpellent et me tiennent à coeur et j’avais envie de les soutenir, à ma manière. J’ai donc écrit et enregistré une chanson de Noël dont tous les profits du téléchargement iront à l’organisme pour l’aider à faire avancer les projets en cours, notamment la pétition contre les sables bitumineux, la promotion du commerce équitable et des notions de pratiques écoresponsables et de développement durable. Joyeux temps des Fêtes! »

The Holidays are just around the corner. To celebrate the season, Ian Kelly offers up a song called Christmas Day, a tune that combines social and environmental awareness with the joy of the holidays.

“For the coming year, I wish you all lucidity. I am firmly convinced that we will all come to the realization that our priorities have been skewed, and that together we can change things for the better. There continues to be numerous humanitarian and environmental aberrations perpetrated in the name of economic interest. Poverty is, more than ever, a global problem.

The Holidays are nonetheless a magical time. A time, I believe, where love still conquers all. I trust in the fundamental goodness of people, and I feel certain that with less irresponsibility, and more education about the consequences of our actions, the world can be a better place.

In very practical terms, Equiterre works hard on a number of issues that I feel strongly about. I decided to join their efforts in the best way I know how, through music. I wrote and recorded a Christmas song, the profits of which will go to supporting Équiterre’s ongoing projects, such as the petition against the oil sands, the promotion of fair-trade commerce, and environmental responsibility and sustainability. Between now and Christmas Eve, you can see Ian Kelly live on November 27th at Brossard’s Club DIX30, and on December 3rd at Théâtre Vieux-Terrebonne with Julie Crochetière as opening act. The Terrebonne show will be filmed for a DVD that will be released in 2015.
