Les premiers extraits ont par ailleurs été encensés par NPR, BBC, CBC et plusieurs autres. Sur les ondes de la BBC, Radcliffe & Maconie ont dévoilé en première You Would Have to Lose Your Mind tandis que Lauren Laverne a affirmé que c’était une de ses chansons préférées de l’année. Cette pièce en particulier cumule déjà plus d’un million d’écoutes combinées en ligne. Bruce Warren de l’émission World Café sur NPR a diffusé en première Queens of the Breakers, la décrivant comme un exemple parfait de l’attention aux détails musicaux du groupe et des résultats mémorables de cette approche. Le premier extrait radio en Amérique du Nord, It Came to Me, a déjà été #1 trois fois sur le palmarès de CBC Radio2 au Canada, alors que la formation a connu sa plus forte entrée à la radio de son histoire aux États-Unis.

Formé des frères Brad et Andrew Barr, et de la harpiste Sarah Pagé, The Barr Brothers se lanceront dans une importante tournée internationale le mois prochain qui commencera par une série de spectacles en Europe avec The War On Drugs, suivie de la plus grande tournée nord-américaine du groupe à ce jour.

Queens of the Breakers tire son nom de The Breakers, un manoir Vanderbilt surplombant la côte rocheuse près de Newport, au Rhode Island. Lorsqu’il était adolescent, Brad faisait partie d’un groupe d’amis espiègles qui se rendaient à Newport vêtus des vêtements de leurs mères afin de provoquer les touristes. La chanson porte à réflexion, évoquant un groupe d’amis très proches, mais qui se sont éventuellement perdus de vue; un souvenir brumeux rappelant le film The Tree Of Life de Terrence Malick.

On the BBC airwaves, Radcliffe and Maconie premiered You Would Have to Lose Your Mind while Lauren Laverne called it one of her favorite tracks of the year. This particular track has already garnered over 1 million combined streams online. Bruce Warren at NPR World Café premiered Queens of the Breakers calling it a perfect illustration of the band’s attention to musical detail with memorable results. The first radio single in North-America, It Came to Me as been #1 three times already on the CBC Radio2 chart in Canada while the band witnessed their strongest debut at radio in history in the United States.

Featuring brothers Brad and Andrew Barr, and harpist Sarah Page, The Barr Brothers will embark on a massive international tour next month that begins with a European run with The War On Drugs followed by the band’s biggest-ever North American tour to date.

Queens of the Breakers takes its name from The Breakers, a Vanderbilt mansion perched atop Newport, Rhode Island’s rocky coastline. As teenagers, brothers Brad and Andrew Barr were part of a mischievous group of friends that would descend upon Newport dressed in their mothers’ clothing; the better to shock the tourists. It's a vehicle for reflection: a tight group of friends that grew apart, now seen through a Terrence Malick Tree Of Life-like haze.
