On August 24th and 25th, the second edition of the SuperFolk Morin-Heights Festival, presented by SiriusXM, will electrify the magnificent Laurentians. Singer-songwritter-producer Ian Kelly has created a brand new family-friendly, musical, eco-responsible, free event. New features have been added, thanks to the participation of many new partners, as well as local associations and merchants.
The festival will offer free outdoor concerts from renowned artists, games for children of all ages-even for toddlers aged 0 to 5- a food zone, and a yoga class for the whole family. There’s activities for teenagers as well, with the addition of a mini-soccer field. There will also be a collective art project, an introduction to scouting, a knitting activity, and a meditation tent.
In order to preserve the element of surprise, the artists performing will not be revealed ahead of time. The festival is easily accessible by foot or by bicycle. Festival-goers can use the footbridge that leads to the Aerobic Corridor via Route 364. Motorists will be able to use Sommet Morin-Heights' public parking and, from there, enjoy the free shuttle.
SuperFolk Morin-Heights was created by Ian Kelly in 2017 to celebrate Morin-Heights' community spirit and musical heritage. The festival site is located at the foot of a mountain, near by the legendary Commons Hotel, which entertained locals and visitors alike, from the 1960s to the 1990s. Several renowned recording studios have thrived in the town over the years, and have helped make Rock, Classical and Folk musical history in Quebec. Bobby Bazini, Martha Wainwright, Jorane, Jonathan Painchaud, Éloi Painchaud, Ryan Kennedy, Peter Katz and Charles-Antoine Gosselin gave moving and intimate performances during the Festival’s inaugural edition.
Saturday, August 24th from noon to 9pm Sunday, August 25th from 11am to 4:30pm Parc Basler (99, Lac Echo Road) Morin-Heights Yoga class for all, with live music, on Sunday at 11am. Visit SuperFolk.ca for more details.
