The second edition of the SuperFolk Morin-Heights Festival, presented by SiriusXM, will take place in the magnificent Laurentians this weekend, August 24th and 25th. Singer-songwriter-producer Ian Kelly invites you to a family-friendly, eco-responsible, free, musical event!
"The festival is intended to be a neighbourhood celebration, where people, whether from the Francophone or Anglophone communities of Morin-Heights, or elsewhere, can gather and build relationships. It is also about bringing the region's rich musical history to life." - Ian Kelly
Starting at noon this Saturday, artists will step onto the stage stage at Basler Park in Morin-Heights. The program will be unveiled on site, when the artists introduce themselves. In addition to music, several activities will be offered: there will be exhibitors, games for children of all ages, an introduction to scouting, and a collective art project.
On Sunday, an outdoor yoga class, accompanied by a live musical performance, will be take place at 11 a.m. Music and activities for the whole family will continue until the site closes at 4:30 p.m.
For locals, the festival is easily accessible on foot, or by bicycle. Visitors can use the footbridge that leads to the Aerobic Corridor via Route 364. Motorists can park at Sommet Morin-Heights and catch the free shuttle service to the site.
In an effort to promote environmental responsibility, no water bottles will be sold on site. People can borrow a reusable glass, or bring their own bottle to fill at the water stations. Please note that the bottles must be empty before entering the site and filled on site. Festivalgoers can bring their lunch, or purchase one from the food concessions. Local retailers will make it a point to minimize their ecological footprint by refraining from using single-use plastic, and opting for easily compostable materials whenever possible.
SuperFolk Morin-Heights was created by Ian Kelly in 2017 to celebrate Morin-Heights' community spirit and musical heritage. The festival site is at the bottom of a mountain, near the former location of the legendary Commons Hotel, which entertained locals and visitors alike from the 1960s to the 1990s. Several renowned recording studios have been established in the town throughout the years, making musical history in Quebec. Bobby Bazini, Martha Wainwright, Jorane, Jonathan Painchaud, Éloi Painchaud, Ryan Kennedy, Peter Katz, and Charles-Antoine Gosselin gave moving performances during the festival’s first edition.
