Inspired by Ferland, Charlebois & Joni Mitchell, Ariane Moffatt’s Deux Cœurs Vagabonds is an ode to simplicity & finding beauty in nature and is reminiscent of the late 60's music where simple melody intersects with complex musicality. Recorded in the outdoors in rural Quebec, the song is a natural wave & brush of wind led by narrator Ariane, who we're hearing in a much different context than her usual releases.
Speaking on the track Ariane says, A project based in the late 60’s early 70’s immediately installs a vibe of spontaneity and freedom. I think we’re in an era somewhat clinical where we all have the desire to return to the essentials and experiences like this give us the ability to connect authentically and in an artistic way that we need to express. I have the urge to explore that more and more. The idea of removing all barriers and to not overthink and that’s really what I felt towards Connor as well – a type of fluidity that ultimately led to a song. Lyrics, music & arrangements – all done in one day.
Inspired and sonically representative of the late 60’s folk movement, 1969 was developed by songwriter and producer Connor Seidel. This album was a collective effort, says Seidel, a labour of love, but most importantly, an excuse to spend time and create with all of these magnificent human beings. The project is predominantly led by classical guitar, string and flute arrangements and includes artists Half Moon Run, Louis Jean Cormier, Safia Nolin, Les Soeurs Boulay, Matt Holubowski, Ariane Moffatt, Elisapie, Elliot Maginot, Philippe Brault, Claudia Bouvette, Jason Bajada, and Joseph Mihalcean. 1969 is set for release on April 12th 2022. Pre-order vinyl now.
