DISCOVER CANADA DAY 2023: THE EVENING IN IMAGES
Canada Day 2023 celebrations returned today with live programming and festivities in Ottawa and Gatineau. Canadians from across the country visited Canada’s Capital Region to attend the night show in person at LeBreton Flats Park. Hosted by Isabelle Racicot, the artistic event was broadcast on ICI Radio-Canada TÉLÉ, ICI Tou.tv, CBC Television and CBC Gem.
The show kicked off with a medley featuring the two most popular songs as voted by the audience, who were invited to choose one French-language and one English-language Canadian song between May 31 and June 6. Vincent Vallières' On va s'aimer encore and Shania Twain's You're Still the One were respectively performed by Josiane and Madison Violet. Added to the opening medley were Blinding Lights (The Weeknd), performed by Clerel, and Arnaq (Elisapie), performed by Josh Q, to highlight this year's theme, Canada Day: A Playlist to Celebrate.
Jann Arden, Roxane Bruneau, Jojo Mason, Les Louanges, Aysanabee, Dax, Preston Pablo, France D'Amour, and Dubmatique then took to the stage, and we traveled across the country to visit Tegan and Sara in Vancouver, Dear Rouge in Calgary, 6 Hearts in Charlottetown.
