In the blink of an eye
That’s all it takes
Big skies deep lakes
For God’s goodness sake

Andre Papanicolaou unveils his new album Beyond Mountains

Record Launch in Montreal on October 28 and in Quebec City on November 14

Andre Papanicolaou unveils his album Beyond Mountains today, from which two singles have been released : A Dream and Zombie Apocalypse. Nine years after the release of Strange Nights, he offers an authentic, immersive album that, once again, proves the musician's ingenuity.

Beyond Mountains is derived from the expression “Beyond mountains, there are more mountains,” representing the ebb and flow of life—the ups and downs we must conquer and the rare moments in between. Themes of love, loss, success, and their absence are woven throughout, providing insight into the narrator’s point of view across all tracks.

His song Transformer is a hymn to change and the cyclical aspect of life. Papanicolaou wanted to shed light on a universal phenomenon from which no one can escape, using arrangements halfway between rock and folk.

For God’s goodness sake

July saw the very first single from his album, A Dream, which would provide a preview of the album to come. The song captures the essence of 1980s indie rock, drawing inspiration from iconic bands such as R.E.M. and The Smiths. Earlier this fall, a second track, Zombie Apocalypse, was released. This time, a rhythmic ballad with an Americana feel. His frank, poetic lyrics once again transport us into his musical universe, this time revealing a more sensitive, introspective side.

Written and recorded in early 2024 with the help of Montreal music scene mainstays Éric Goulet (Les Chiens), Amélie Mandeville (Pierre Lapointe, Vincent Vallières), Simon Blouin (Vincent Vallières), Marie-Anne Arsenault (Damien Robitaille), and Alexandre Lapointe (The Brooks), this latest release was created “the old-fashioned way”: live off the floor with no overdubs (aside from the vocals). The idea was to capture the raw energy and spontaneous creativity that can only be achieved by bringing together different creative forces and seeing what emerges.

Beyond Mountains will be available on all digital platforms from October 25, 2024.

A record launch will take place on October 28 at Le Verre Bouteille in Montreal and November 14 at Le Petit Champlain in Quebec City.
