Go On

This six-string wizard releases Solo Recordings 1½ on iTunes November 5 and in stores on the 12th. The EP includes four songs recorded live in the studio and gives a taste of what’s to come on Solo Recordings Volume 2, to be released in March 2014.
Go On
Steve Hill followed the same process for this EP as he did for Solo Recordings Volume 1: using a guitar, his voice, a bass drum, hi-hat and other percussions at his feet. This time though, he pushed the envelope even further by adding a harmonica and a snare drum – all recorded live, alone in his studio as a one-man band. Volume 1 racked up the Best Self-Produced CD award at the Memphis International Blues Challenge. It also earned him five trophies at the 11th gala Lys Blues, most notably in the Blues Album of the Year category, and a Juno nomination for Blues Album of the Year.
The one-man band talents of Hill have been presented more than 150 times across Canada, the United States and Europe. His tour continues this winter.
“This guy picks up his guitar and blasts us with some full throttle pure blues. It sounds like old White Stripes, but with even more power at times! I strongly suggest that you jump at the chance to see his show if he comes to your neck of the woods. And when you’re there, after taking note of how Steve plays his guitar – no pick, his fingers flying as if on a jazz piano – close your eyes and be blown away by the fact that what you’re hearing comes from that one guy, alone on stage. Where’s his band? It’s him.” –Voir.ca
