Singer-songwriter Ian Kelly offers you a glimpse of his life in the studio with the release of a video shot in virtual reality. Directed by Marc-André Lavoie (Hot-Dog, Bluff) and filmed with 360° cameras, the video captures an intimate Ian Kelly performance in his studio in Morin-Heights, shot several weeks ago. “This was the simplest way I could imagine to invite fans to my place,” Kelly explains. Ian performs several songs from his most recent and critically acclaimed album SuperFolk for an audience of 50 guests. Songs include a special version of I Hope To See You Again, offering a genuine glimpse into Ian’s SuperFolk world. Each audience member wears a set of Sennheiser headphones, graciously loaned for the shoot, guaranteeing that everyone would have the same listening experience, regardless of where they were seated in the studio. Furthermore, since Ian regularly suggests to his fans not to take photos or videos of his shows so they can “live in the moment,” this video is the closest they can come to experiencing his SuperFolk tour without actually being there. After being added to the Samsung VR broadcast platform, the video clip of I Hope to See you Again, captured in virtual reality, was selected by the company for its "fresh" playlist. There is also a “regular” version of the video for TV, filmed with six cameras. Ian will close out his SuperFolk tour this spring, after over 50 performances to focus on some interesting new projets.
